Over the Thanksgiving holiday, Dexter Foxworth spent the morning surveying his organization’s ransacked storage unit in the Downtown Orlando area. The clothing donations and electronic goods set aside were intended for teens apart of  The Zebra Coalition, a nonprofit which aids LGBTQ teens in Central Florida.

According to the mission statement: The Zebra Coalition is a network of organizations which provide services to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender & Questioning (LGBTQ) youth. These organizations assess and support youth in need of shelter, emotional or spiritual guidance, medical services, or education -- regardless of their personal, economic or social circumstances. These organizations are supported by The Zebra Foundation for Youth.

A newly renovated facility, The Zebra Coalition House,  is scheduled to open  December 5th and will offer an array of services including: daily support groups, a resource library, case management, as well as temporary housing for teens. Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and District 4 Commissioner Patty Sheehan will be on site for the ribbon cutting.

For more information on how you can help The Zebra Coalition by donating clothing items or gift cards contact: 877-90- ZEBRA (877-909-3272) or visit them online at www.zebrayouth.org.

Donations can be dropped off at 911 N. Mills Avenue from 1:30 – 6:30 p.m. December 6, 11, 13, 18, and 20.
