Community Minute is brought to you by Mercedes-Benz of South Orlando...

As we all know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This week we shared important details on protecting our sisters from this disease that impacts African American women at an alarming rate. In fact, breast cancer is the most common cancer among African American women... We're also twice as likely to develop tumors that are triple negative, which don't respond to current medical treatments and can only be removed surgically, if caught early.

If you have a family history of cancer, talk with your daughters and young sisters. At a age 20, you can start getting clinical breast exams, and by 40 you can get a mammogram.
Sisters, we know if something is wrong-- go find out for sure.

Join Jojo and I for the Susan G. Komen Race for a Cure Saturday, October 16th, at UCF.

Also on October 29th, Sisters Network will host its 7th Annual Gift for Life Block Walk.

Let's  stand united in the fight against this devastating disease.
