Colon Cancer Awareness

Colon Cancer Awareness
Colon Cancer Awareness

Dr. Baker – Gastroenterologist spoke about the importance of colon cancer screening.  In 2013 some 25,000 men and 25,000 women will be diagnosed with this cancer.  A colonoscopy test is necessary for men at the age of 45, women by 50 and then every 5-10 years after that.  If you have a family history of colon cancer you may need screenings earlier than that.  In the years that you do have the test, a hemoccult fecal test should be ordered by your doctor.  African Americans run the risk of dying from this cancer because of diet and obesity. Check out the interview with Dr. Baker here.
