Bishop Eddie Long is back in headlines again, this time he’s being sued by 12 of his former congregation members from New Birth Missionary Baptist Church. According to the group, they lost over $1 Million dollars in a Ponzi scheme that Long knew about. Long endorsed Ephren W. Taylor as a businessman, friend, and brother to the members of the church. Taylor encouraged them to invest their money to better economically depressed neighborhoods, and that they would see a healthy return. Apparently, the Bishop’s assistant received a call from an anonymous person saying not to trust Taylor and that he would inevitably take advantage of the church. A memo was passed to Long with the information from the caller, but Long overlooked it. The attorney for the group says, “If Bishop Eddie Long hadn’t endorsed this, they wouldn’t have invested”.
