The Problem.Thematic, integrated, universal, experiential, project-based and problem-based. We believe that curriculum developed with these principles is significantly more powerful for student engagement, achievement, motivation and a host of other factors. Unfortunately, it is also much more complex, time-consuming and intimidating for teachers to develop these types of curriculum alone when they are used to following scripted single-subect lecture-based curriculum structures. We believe that if there were well designed and teacher-tested examples of thematic, integrated, universal, experiential and PBL(x2) curriculum available more teachers and schools would utilize it.The Project.So that's what we are going to do.We will develop a thematic, integrated, universal, experiential and PBL(x2) curriculum for K-12 students that we will utilize at LCPS for the 4th quarter and then publish at the end of the quarter with implementation notes.The Theme.Our 4th quarter theme is Inventions and Entrepreneurship. Sweet, right?The Experience.Join us on March 30th for a day full of activities, examples, projects and planning that will lead to the generation of what will be an amazing curriculum unit.The Team.Anyone interested in being a part of this design process - People in the education world, in the business/startup world, in the design world, in this world. It's vital that we have a cross-disciplinary group of folks to get the most innovative curriculum design ideas so don't feel like you have to have classroom or curriculum design experience to join us!
