Although you may not be familiar with the term upper cross syndrome (UCS) you've probably seen it. See that little old lady who's standing up, but appears to be falling over? Her head shifted forward, shoulders rounded, and her upper back hunched over is a result of upper cross syndrome. Now, just so you don't think we're picking on the elderly, the same condition can exist in the young. Now see the cyclist above in the picture, the “healthy” guy, who works out regularly or the gym rat that does 10 sets of 10 with 225 lbs, three days a week, year after year. Eventually they too will develop the same condition as the little old lady. Both examples are a result of muscular imbalances of flexibility and /or strength. Regardless of age, if you suffer from these imbalances you will have neurological disturbances. Having poor posture can lead to pain, increase your risk of injury, and decrease efficiency in your training and sports performance. EDUCATIONAL TALKThis talk demonstrates the importance of identifying upper cross syndrome and ways to prevent and correct it. STRETCHING DEMOThis workshop will be interactive and Dr. Jodi and her team will be demonstrating and teaching attendees corrective exercises. OTHERFREE POSTURAL ASSESSMENTS FOR ATTENDEES
