Are you a public agency or recipient of federal funds concerned about complying with Federal requirements to promote fair housing opportunity and housing equality in your state, county or city? In this special two day training, community development practitioners, housing professionals and local government officials will learn about the latest developments and best practices under United States Department of Housing & Urban Development’s (HUD) Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing (AFFH) requirements, which spell out the fair housing obligations of states, cities and towns across America._______Every public and private entity that receives Community Development Block Grant funds or related support from the United States Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) has an obligation to “Affirmatively Further Fair Housing.” This training, approved by and funded with support from HUDʼs Office of Fair Housing & Equal Opportunity Fair Housing Initiatives Program, will focus on how those communities and agencies receiving funds can ensure compliance with the Fair Housing Act and collaborate with stakeholders to achieve housing opportunity.Participants will gain working knowledge on how to comply with the AFFH rules, the obligations of the Community Development Block Grant program recipients and related HUD-funded initiatives that engage in government contracting, consulting, supporting, training and other services to ensure compliance, as well as learn about model programs and innovative approaches. Participants will also be briefed on the status of current AFFH activity and have an opportunity to “ask the experts.”  Participants may use HUD funds to attend this training with approval from their HUD contract officer.
