Description:
Dr. James Wright, Professor in Sociology and the Institute of of Social and Behavioral Sciences will kick-off Student Research Week with a presentation summarizing a series of undergraduate and graduate student research projects dealing with hunger and food insecurity in Central Florida. This research program has proceeded without external funding and yet has produced a comprehensive portrait of hunger and food insecurity issues in our region. Student research of this sort illustrates the artificiality of the boundaries we construct between teaching, research and service. We teach students important lessons about social issues by having them conduct research that can be and is used by social-service agencies in the community. Website: http://www.researchweek.ucf.edu
